Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about playing The Favorites Game. Looking for the full rules instead?

How many players can play The Favorites Game?

The Favorites Game supports 2 to 50 players. Bigger groups can split into up to 10 teams, and spectators can watch without taking up a player slot.

Is The Favorites Game free to play?

Yes. The game is free to play and runs entirely in your web browser — there is nothing to download or install.

Do my friends need an account to join?

No. Friends can join as guests with just the join code the host shares. Hosts who prefer signed-in players can turn guest access off for their game.

What devices does it work on?

Any modern web browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. Everyone can play on their own device, or the group can share one screen with pass-and-play, which shows privacy screens between turns so nobody peeks.

Is The Favorites Game kid-friendly?

Yes. Family Mode enables kid-friendly prompt packs and a PG content filter, defaults younger kids to multiple-choice answers, and lets the host grant extra time or first-letter hints. A banned-word filter is enforced in every mode.

How does scoring work?

A correct guess is worth 1 point; a wrong or blank guess scores nothing. In team mode your points also count toward your team's total, and Party Mode can add streak bonuses, steals, and double-or-nothing wagers.

What if a guess is close but not exact?

Spelling doesn't have to be perfect: matching ignores case, forgives typos and abbreviations, and players can attach aliases to their answers that also count. Anything closer than that goes to close-enough judgment — the player who wrote the answer decides, or the optional AI Judge settles it instantly. Hosts who want exact-only matching can enable Strict Mode.

How long does a game take?

It depends on the group size and how many categories you play. Answer entry and review each default to a couple of minutes, and for bigger groups the Short Game preset caps the quiz at roughly 35 to 50 questions — with every player getting the same number of turns — so games stay snappy.

What happens if someone disconnects mid-game?

They can rejoin and pick up right where they left off, and their favorites stay in play in the meantime. If the host disconnects, hosting passes to another player — or the app itself can step in as host — so the game keeps moving.

Can people watch without playing?

Yes. Spectators can join at any point — even mid-game — watch every phase, and react with emojis, but they don't answer prompts, make guesses, or appear in the rankings.
